On Friday, July 19th, we hosted our “Finding 4th Flavour Tasting Event” at the charming Summerhill Event Boutique. Around 50 attendees, many of whom are loyal makgeolli and Wondermak enthusiasts, joined us for an evening of delightful flavours. The ambience in the room was warm to match the summer evening vibe. The vibrant background music and the Korean food pairings were a huge hit. We served bulgogi sliders from Diner Seoul, chicken skewers from Choondak, and an array of Korean delicacies from Toma Tono. The attendees tasted various fruity makgeollis: grapefruit, yuzu, yuzu-lemon (citrus), and strawberry. Everyone had a hard time picking which flavour they wanted to see as our fourth flavour! In the end, it was a tie between strawberry and yuzu-lemon. We are happy to honour this feedback from our most loyal Wondermak customers and announce our 4th and 5th flavours: strawberry and yuzu-lemon. The new flavours will soon be available for sale on our website and will debut at the upcoming Toronto Korean Festival in August.
On July 31st, Wondermak held its first coffee makgeolli tasting event in collaboration with De Mello, a renowned coffee roastery and café chain in Toronto. The owner and staff of De Mello tasted 10 different test batches and shared their expert feedback. Based on what we learned from the event, we hope to perfect the special edition of De Mello x Wondermak coffee makgeolli soon. With De Mello, one of the best roasteries in Toronto, we are committed to creating a taste that coffee lovers will enjoy. In addition to coffee makgeolli, we are also developing a coffee makgeolli spread, so look forward to seeing this update from us soon!
Yes, July was full of new flavour and product announcements and we couldn’t have done it without your support. We are excited to “spread” (full pun intended) our joy with the new spreads and makgeolli flavours beyond the typical dining table to wherever you can enjoy delicious food and good drinks with people you love.
